Since the practice of Dorje Shugden was made available to the public, we have received many comments about it. Romance Films Blind (2017) on this page. Most of the feedback and comments have been positive, but there are also critics, which is to be expected.

However, what is unacceptable is that the tone of criticism recently has become violent and life threatening. Some of these hostile comments have been made by people who were previously involved with Kechara as staff, volunteers, and online followers who have been direct recipients of Rinpoche’s kindness; others by those who have no connection with Kechara at all. Their threatening remarks are of grave concern due to their repeated insistence that Tsem Rinpoche will be killed for his beliefs. Their conduct constitutes planning for violence and harm against Rinpoche. More significantly, their conviction leads me to believe that they have pre- meditated and inside knowledge about actions that will be taken against Rinpoche just because he practices Dorje Shugden. Otherwise, how else do they know that Rinpoche will not live to see the end of this year? How can they be so specific about the timeline?

These statements about inflicting harm and threatening Tsem Rinpoche’s life because of his practice can only arise from two sources: 1) inside information that these people are privy to and; 2) their observation of events surrounding the Dorje Shugden issue. There is already evidence of harm and violence against Dorje Shugden practitioners worldwide which compels me to believe their threats are real and forthcoming. On the Internet, vulgar remarks are directed on a daily basis towards Dorje Shugden practitioners, some of which have been recorded here: http: //www. In Tibetan Buddhist communities, it is prevalent that if you practice Dorje Shugden, you will be ostracized, marginalized and bullied; in fact some have been physically harmed, beaten or even killed.

There are riots against Dorje Shugden practitioners, allegedly instigated and organized by anti- Shugden groups. Many lamas have witnessed their homes ruined by culprits who throw rocks and other destructive objects. The threats and violence escalated to such heights that H. H. Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche was evacuated from Gaden Shartse Monastery to a safe haven in Europe. In addition to this, other eminent teachers have allegedly died under suspicious circumstances; some of poisoning and others of car “accidents”. Most recently, an 8. Trijang Ladrang was brutally attacked, allegedly because he practices Dorje Shugden.

Do ask yourselves this – what can a defenseless 8. Therefore, it is evident to me that the people who are threatening Tsem Rinpoche’s life are adamant to see it through, and their continued persistence makes it very clear that they are. I am also certain that these threats arise only because of Rinpoche’s practice of Dorje Shugden because prior to this, there have been no threats on his life. Just imagine, in today’s modern world, that someone’s life is threatened and reputation slandered just because they practice Dorje Shugden. What kind of religious freedom is this if you are free to practice but threatened, degraded and spat upon if you do? Statements which have been posted on Facebook such as “If he keeps this up, his days in this incarnation will be numbered” and “In fact, if he’s not careful, he may not live to see the end of the year” are clear threats not to be taken lightly.

In fact, anyone who participates in these discussions on social media are encouraging the threats, while members of such hostile groups who remain silent are in effect condoning these threats by saying nothing. They are as guilty and complicit of any harm which comes to Tsem Rinpoche. Such individuals and groups will be held accountable for inciting and provoking any threatening actions, either directly or indirectly, which befalls Rinpoche. This is further evidence of how much abuse, slander and threats Dorje Shugden practitioners have to tolerate on a day to day basis. It is pure religious discrimination. This is getting very serious and beyond just Internet bashing or slandering. A human life is being taken very lightly and threatened.

All statements which have been posted by individuals and groups are recorded for my further actions. As the President of Kechara House I will see to it that all measures are taken to protect our Spiritual Guide. The Board of Directors and I, together with all dedicated students and friends of Tsem Rinpoche, will exhaust every available and lawful means to ensure Rinpoche’s life is protected at all times. We live in Malaysia where diversity co- exists harmoniously.

Citizens are allowed the freedom of religion and choice without ridicule. Nobody should be threatened with death for their beliefs and it is absolute that Rinpoche’s life is being threatened because he practices Dorje Shugden. It is no longer religious action when you talk about and wish someone’s death because of their faith, but prejudice and intolerance.

And, to remain silent is to be complicit. Where is the compassion? Is there human decency and mutual respect in these comments? It is my request that, with this serious situation at hand, for all to remain ever vigilant for further threatening comments, statements and actions towards H.

The person is SURPRISED that I’m still alive just because I practise Dorje Shugden. This means that the threat IS very real and that people have definitely been killed for their practice.
